What Pictory does well

  • โœ“ Excellent for repurposing existing long videos, blog posts, and scripts into short clips
  • โœ“ Solid auto-captioning, voiceover, and stock libraries from Getty and Storyblocks
  • โœ“ Approachable editor that marketers pick up quickly

Where Pictory falls short

  • โœ•Getty and Storyblocks are the main visual libraries. A smaller AI-credit pool also generates images, short video, and avatars verified on vendor page
  • โœ•Not designed for scheduled faceless channel automation verified on vendor page
  • โœ•Plans meter export minutes, and unused minutes do not roll over verified on vendor page

Pictory lists Starter, Professional, and Team. Annual billing on pictory.ai/pricing shows $25, $35, and $119 per month. The monthly prices shown beside them are $29, $59, and $199. Exports are metered in video minutes: 200, 600, and 1,800 per month on monthly plans, with the year's minutes included upfront on annual plans. A separate AI-credit pool covers generated images, video, and avatars. Professional and Team include voices in 29 languages. Their FAQ says Starter supports seven, and a separate FAQ says text-to-video is currently English only. Checked 3 October 2026.

Why creators switch to ShortLoom

  • โ†’ Generates original cinematic AI scenes per shot instead of matching stock clips
  • โ†’ Series Mode runs a faceless channel on autopilot - Pictory has no auto-posting series
  • โ†’ Transparent flat credits with rollover, and 70+ languages included

Same brief, two paths

One brief. Turn "Why harbor cranes keep working after midnight" into a 30-second 9:16 video with a voiceover and burned-in captions. The spoken script is six lines, hook first: harbor cranes do not stop when the city does; a ship only earns money while it is moving; every hour at the dock is a bill; the lights stay on; the strange part is who stays awake; a night crew, not the captain.

ShortLoom on this brief

ShortLoom treats each line as one Seedance scene under one Documentary style bible, then one of nine voices reads it and Whisper times karaoke captions. The file is one MP4. A standard 30-second video costs 3 credits. The $1 / 7-day trial includes 6 credits, two cinematic 30-second videos, no watermark, and a card is required. Paid plans start at $35/month. This is the scene plan and the price. It is not a claim that this harbor video has been exported and published.

Pictory on this brief

Pictory's pricing page, checked 3 October 2026, describes a different path for the same brief. Visuals come mainly from Getty and Storyblocks, with a separate AI-credit pool for generated images, short video, and avatars. Exports are metered in video minutes: 200, 600, or 1,800 a month on the monthly Starter, Professional, and Team plans. Annual prices shown are $25, $35, and $119 per month; the monthly prices beside them are $29, $59, and $199. Unused minutes do not roll over. Professional and Team include voices in 29 languages. Their FAQ says Starter supports seven, and a separate FAQ says text-to-video is currently English only. Nothing on that page describes a scheduled faceless series that waits for a human review before it publishes.

ShortLoom did not create a Pictory account, did not render this brief in Pictory, and does not have a Pictory export to put beside ours. The Pictory column is the vendor's public pricing page, not a hands-on test.

How we compare

  • โ†’ "verified on vendor page" = collected on from Pictory's public pricing page (the plan shown on their homepage) - a page we read, not a product we used.
  • โ†’ "verified by direct test" would mean we signed up for Pictory and used it ourselves. We have not done this for any competitor on this site yet - if you see this label anywhere, it's a genuinely fresh, hands-on test, not a template default.
  • โ†’ "reported by users" = quoted from public reviews (Trustpilot, etc.) - we did not independently verify the underlying complaint, only that the review exists and says what we quote.
  • โ†’ These are dated snapshots. Vendors change pricing and features frequently - always verify the current offer on Pictory's official site before deciding.
  • โ†’ ShortLoom.ai claims come from our own live product: current pricing on our pricing page, generation stats in our public Proof & data report.
